Stand Firm

The Holy Spirit led me to read Joshua with an emphasis on chapter 3. The phrase STAND FIRM stood out to. In fact, it has been a reoccurring message for me lately. This particular chapter is about Joshua and the Israelites crossing over the Jordan. Before the people set out to to cross over the Jordan they were instructed to consecrate themselves. In other words they were to clean themselves. The Holy Spirit revealed to me cleaning ourself is simply asking God to search our hearts and as He reveals the muck in us we confess them and repent (turn away) with a sincere heart. Cleaning ourselves means that we give up our plans and motives and recommitment, realign, and resubmit to His perfect plan. It's very easy to get sidetrack with our jobs and hobbies that God ordained for us. We must check our motives and attitudes to make sure we are doing them for Gods glory and with joy, not doing them out of habit/ routine.
Then as we clean ourselves God calls us out in the mist of our upstream and downstream flowing rivers. The simple instruction at this point in our process He instructs us to STAND FIRM. The literal definition of stand is a person in this case in an upright position on feet; rise to feet. The definition of FIRM means not soft or yielding when pressed. So literally God is commanding you to be bold in the midst of you financial problem, battle with your health, in your marriage or relationship, employment situation, school, leadership role, parenting, etc. How do you do this? You adopt positive thinking and begin speaking life over your situation no matter what your situation looks like, you pray without ceasing, you praise and worship God because He has already made you victorious, and you continue to finish the small assignments with passion and joy that the lord has already entrusted you to do.
Do not be distracted by the flood waters surrounding you when you first begin to stand firm. Joshua stood in the water as God commanded him to and believe it or not it was in the midst of harvest time despite the flood. His ability to stand firm in His faith cause the lowest elevation (Jordan/ Dead Sea) to begin to almost evaporate to the point the waters were no longer as deep. Same goes for you because the waters that are flowing will begin to part if you just Stand Firm. Soon enough your bank account will be overflowing, your health will be restored, your marriage will be joyful, your children will be saved, you'll get promoted on your job, school loans will be erased... STAND FIRM
The great thing about God is He goes ahead of us. As you are standing firm He is setting up your next destination to receive you. He is driving out enemies mentally and physically. He is promoting people to help you and demoting the ones who are in your spot. It's wonderful to know He is setting you up for success.
We must remember that Joshua instructed the Israelites to leave memorabilia of what God has done in the Jordan. We too can use things as signs of remembering where God has brought us by testifying to people His grace and goodness in our lives, you can even write a book. Just don't forget to give Him thanks and all the glory.
Father I pray that this word touches the individuals that you are encouraging today so they can Stand Firm in the flowing Rivera of life. In this world we will have trouble but thank you Lord for continuing to pray over us so we will make it through. Cleanse our hearts and our mind Lord. May we find favor in your eyes and become your spotless bride. Grant is the privilege to bask in the knowledge and wisdom of you oh God. Continue to intrigue us to learn more about you and your ways. Pour out your spirit of truth, purity, and boldness so we can conquer every test and trial that comes our way. Give us endurance to keep going, patience when we fall short, and persistence when it may seem mundane. In Jesus name amen.
